Asking questions
Type your question into the composer — “Ask about vendors, submittals, RFIs, change events, budgets…” — and press Enter. Shift+Enter adds a new line. On a fresh chat you get starter cards you can click instead of typing:
Answers stream in live. While one is being written, a status line shows what the assistant is actually doing — “Searching documents…”, “Reading a document…”, “Reviewing submittals”, “Checking vendors” — and you can click it to expand the full step-by-step trace.
When an answer finishes, an Ask next row offers follow-up questions; click one to send it straight away.
Scoping an answer
Click Scope in the composer to decide what a question is answered against. The button carries a badge with how many restrictions are active.
Clear scope resets everything; Done closes the popover. Whatever you pick shows as removable chips above the composer.
Changing the project starts a new chat — a conversation belongs to one
project for its whole life.
Attaching documents
Two ways to put a specific document in front of the assistant:Pin an existing document with @
Pin an existing document with @
Type
@ in the composer and start typing a document name. Use ↑/↓ to move, Enter or Tab to pick. Can’t find it? Click Browse documents to open the Add documents picker, where you can search the whole library, filter by type, and add several at once.Upload a file into the chat
Upload a file into the chat
Click the paperclip (Attach a document), drag a file onto the composer, or paste one from your clipboard. Each file appears as an attachment card showing its name and state — Uploading, Preparing, then Ready. Send is held until everything is ready. Click a ready card to open it in the document viewer.Uploads land in the Document Center too, at project visibility when you’re in a project and organization-wide otherwise — so the whole team can find them later.
Citations and sources
Every claim in an answer is tied to its source.- Numbered markers —
[1],[2]— appear inline in the text. Click one to jump to that source. - A sources pill under the answer shows the logos of the tools behind it and reads “3 sources”. Click it to open the Sources panel.
- Each source card carries the tool’s logo (Procore, Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Teams, Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, Dropbox, the project inbox), what kind of record it is (RFI, Submittal, Punch, Change event, Email, Document, Calendar…), a title, and an excerpt.
- If it’s a document Brink has indexed, the in-app viewer opens at the exact cited page with the referenced region highlighted. Multi-page documents get Prev / Next and a page indicator.
- If it’s a record that lives in another tool, the card is a deep link — it opens that RFI in Procore, that message in Slack, that thread in Gmail, in a new tab.
Choosing a model
The Model selector in the composer footer lets you pick from the models your admin has enabled, grouped by provider. Your choice is remembered for next time. It’s locked while an answer is streaming.Memory
When you tell the assistant something worth keeping — a preference, a fact about your business — it notes Remembered inline, along with what it took away, and uses it in future answers.Chat history
The chat sidebar keeps every conversation, grouped under Pinned, Today, Yesterday, This week, and Older.- New chat starts a fresh conversation.
- A pulsing dot means an answer is still being written — you can leave the page and come back to it.
- Pin or unpin a chat from its row; the Chat options menu offers Rename chat and Delete chat. Double-clicking a title renames it inline.
- The hamburger button in the header hides and shows the sidebar.
